France's top air company Air France on Monday decided to cancel its flight between Paris and Damascus, as Syria faced uncertain situation.

According to a company spokesman, the airline's flights scheduled both from and to Damascus until Tuesday have been cancelled.

But the company has not decided if the other two flights would be affected during this week, the spokesman said, adding that they would follow the situation closely in Syria.

The airline is contacting its passengers who were to fly on Monday to notify the cancellation and trying to help them out by checking in other flights to the destination.

On Friday, French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced the decision to close French embassy in Damascus.
