An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale jolted Argentina at 1:07 p.m. Monday (Beijing Time), the China Earthquake Networks Center announced.

The epicenter, with a depth of 580 km, was located at 28.0 south latitude and 63.2 west longitude, the earthquake monitor said.
