China supports Portugal's efforts to fight debt crisis

China supports the efforts made by the Portuguese government and the eurozone to fight the European economic crisis, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Friday, just ahead of an upcoming visit by Portugal's foreign minister.
Portuguese Minister of State and Foreign Minister Paulo Portas will pay an official visit to China from June 30 to July 8.
Hong said during a regular press briefing that China has taken note of Portugal's implementation of reforms intended to promote economic balance, adding that the efforts have seen positive results.
China believes Portugal will restore economic growth and financial stability through both its own efforts and international support, Hong said, adding that the European Union will also overcome its current difficulties.
