A group of U.S. Jewish businessmen have shelled out 50,000 U.S. dollars each to partake in a fund-raising event with U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney who arrived in Israel Saturday night.

The 50-member delegation arrived here in a private jet to attend a breakfast with Romney at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on Monday, at which he will lay out his Middle East policies in a 45-minute speech.

Most of the names on the guest list are shrouded in secrecy, but the Israeli Ma'ariv newspaper revealed some of them, which include casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, lawyer Phil Rosen, Beverly Hills real estate developer Bobby Rechnitz and Kenneth Abramowitz, a New York-based millionaire and a board member of an organization that raises funds for the Israeli military.

Adelson, a staunch supporter of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is widely believed to be the largest donor to Romney's campaign, having pledged a whopping 100 million dollars to his bid to oust President Barack Obama in the election scheduled for November, according to U.S. media.

Some of the group's members have previously donated funds, directly or indirectly, to the Likud primaries earlier this year.

The threat of Iran's long-disputed nuclear program highlighted a meeting between Netanyahu and Romney on Sunday, with the former emphasizing the need for "a credible military threat" coupled with diplomatic sanctions in order to prevent Tehran from acquiring an atomic bomb.

Romney, on his fourth trip to Israel, later met with Israeli President Shimon Peres, who voiced confidence that the Obama administration's policies in regards with Iran "are the right ones. "

The Republican hopeful, who is due to depart Israel Monday, also met Sunday with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, opposition leader Shaul Mofaz.
