French celebrity magazine VSD was ordered to pay President Francois Hollande's girlfriend Valerie Trierweiler 1,500 pounds (US$2,390) as damages for publishing shots of her in a bikini, according to a recent court verdict, the Daily Mail reported.

The magazine published Trierweiler's bikini pictures without her consent, thus infringing on her right to privacy, a lawyer of France's unwed first lady said.

Trierweiler hired a team of lawyers who contacted editors asking them not to publish her bikini shots taken on vacation with Hollande on the French Riviera in August, Le Figaro reported.

VSD's editor-in-chief felt surprised with the verdict, but he refused to comment on the issue.
