Bai Chunli elected TWAS president

Bai Chunli 

Bai Chunli, the president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was elected as the new president for the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS).

This has been the first time that a Chinese scientist will serve as the head of the science organization since its establishment in 1983.

Mr. Bai will take up his post on January 1, 2013.

The TWAS 23rd General Meeting and 12th General Conference will be held September 18-21 in Tianjin, China.

TWAS is an autonomous international organization based in Trieste, Italy. Its principal aim is to promote scientific capacity and excellence for sustainable development in developing countries.
