India Thursday successfully testfired its home-made nuclear capable Prithvi II ballistic missile from the integrated test range near Balasore in the eastern state of Odisha, a top official said.
"The test was successful," range director M.V.K.V. Prasad told the media.
The testfiring was part of user trial by the Indian armed forces.
Prithvi II is a medium range, surface-to-surface ballistic missile developed by state-owned Defense Research and Development Organization as part of India's integrated guided missile development program.
The missile is a single stage, liquid fueled missile with a warhead capacity of over 500 kg.
