Syria's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that the army general command is still studying the proposal of a cease-fire during the upcoming Eid al-Adha, a plan put forward by international envoy Lakhdar Brahimi.
In a brief statement, the ministry said the last decision will be announced Thursday, one day ahead of the four-day Islamic festival of Sacrifice.
The statement apparently came in response to the remarks made by UN-Arab League envoy Brahimi, who said in Cairo during a meeting with Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi that the Syrian government has accepted the cease-fire proposal.
