The International Mine Countermeasures Exercise 2013 (IMCMEX 13) began earlier this month and runs until 30 May 2013 in the waters of the Persian Gulf.

The exercises are focused on enhancing mine counter measures cooperation between coalition forces, according to the United States' 5th Fleet Combined Maritime Forces Commander, Vice Admiral John W. Miller.

Naval forces from 41 countries including 35 ships, 18 unmanned underwater vehicles and more than 100 explosive ordinance divers, are taking part in the drill.
