Paraguay's Public Health Ministry Friday confirmed four more deaths from dengue fever, bringing the total number of deaths from the disease so far this year to 66.
The ministry said out of the 66, 51 resided in Paraguay's Central Department (state) adjoining the capital Asuncion.
The ministry added that 46 of the 66 victims were also suffering from other ailments, such as diabetes, hypertension or kidney malfunction.
Until now, as many as 86,656 cases of dengue have been reported in the worst outbreak of the disease in the history of Paraguay and most of those infected are between the ages of 20 and 39, according to figures from the ministry's Health Monitoring Office.
In 2012, the disease spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito claimed the lives of 48 people, and infected 30,823 others.
