One was killed and 162 others were injured in clashes between supporters and opponents of the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, in the Delta city of Mansoura, 90 km north the capital, State-run Ahram online reported on Wednesday.
Clashes erupted in the vicinity of the security headquarters in Daqahliya governorate, after the Islamic-oriented supporters of president Morsi have staged a march calling to support the legitimacy of the president.
The injured have been transferred to the nearest hospitals, and four cases are in serious conditions, a medical source was quoted by Ahram as saying.
The protests came ahead of the opposition's June-30 protests aiming to pressure the president to call for an early election, while the Islamists called for another massive protests on Friday.
