Egypt's Adli Mansour takes oath as interim president

Egyptian judge Adli Mansour was sworn in Thursday as the interim president of the state after the ouster of Mohamed Morsi.

Adli has taken an oath earlier in the day as head of the Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC).
"The decision of assigning me as an interim president was issued from the only source of power in Egypt, which is 'the great Egyptian people'," said Mansour in a speech after taking the oath.
"The Egyptians corrected the path of the glorious January 25 upheaval by the June 30 demonstrations, during which the young people performed a vital role to benefit the state," added Mansour.
"Now, we look forward to holding a real transparent parliamentary and presidential election," he noted.
The nationwide protests against the Islamist-oriented Morsi has broken out since June 30. On Wednesday, the state's armed forces ousted Morsi and assigned Mansour to run the country for a transitional period.
The military also put forward a roadmap for the transitional period, including forming a national government with broadened powers, suspending the current constitution and forming a commission to prepare constitutional amendments.
At least 11 people were killed and more than 500 injured in clashes between the supporters and opponents of Morsi Wednesday overnight.
