A visiting Iranian high ranking official said Monday that any form of foreign military action against Syria and the use of any chemical weapons would threaten regional and world peace.
An Iranian delegation, led by Chairman of the Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said following talks with Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam that "stability and calm in Lebanon will serve security and stability in the region."
Boroujerdi stressed Iran's support to Syria "because it considers it a main factor in the axis of resistance and defiance against Israel in the region."
He said "we informed Salam of our rejection of any form of foreign military action against Syria and the use of any chemical weapons, because they threaten regional and world peace."
He hoped that the Lebanese parties would successfully form a new government.
The Iranian delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, caretaker Premier Najib Miqati and caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on Tuesday.
