A total of 40 missiles were seized by the Algerian army near the border with Libya, a security source told Xinhua Wednesday.
The weapons, which were being transported by members of Al- Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), were heading to northern Mali, as they were intercepted by Algerian army in the locality of Djanet in the province of Illizi, and 40 Katyusha missiles and a number of ground-air missiles SA-7 were seized, the source said.
During this operation, the army forces managed to arrest two militants, one of whom seriously injured, while an undetermined number of militants fled to neighboring Libya, the source added.
