Friendship association donates $170,000 to Myanmar NGOs

The China-Myanmar Friendship Association donated on Friday a total of 170,000 U.S. dollars for Myanmar non-governmental organizations (NGOs), a move aimed at strengthening friendship between Chinese and Myanmar peoples.

Representatives from 17 local NGOs including Myanmar Anti- Narcotics Association, foundations for health and education, training schools for youths, women, children and disabled persons, orphanage as well as a free funeral service society attended the donating ceremony.

Geng Zhiyuan, vice president of China-Myanmar Friendship Association, said in his speech "we will continue to help support the activities of Myanmar NGOs as well as strengthen contacts between Chinese and Myanmar NGOs for sharing information, experience and for collaborative efforts in the future."

Representing civil societies, U Soe Win, president of Myanmar Anti-Narcotics Association, expressed thanks to the Chinese people for the donation, saying it will contribute to promoting the people-to-people friendship of the two countries.
