France will mobilize further satellite means in a bid to help finding missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 after its satellite images showed "floating debris" in the southern Indian Ocean, the country's Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Sunday.

In a statement, the Quai d'Orsay unveiled that radar echoes from a satellite put the new debris finding about 2,300 km from Perth in Australia, without giving a direction or a date.

"These elements have immediately been passed on to the Malaysian authorities," the ministry said, adding "France had decided to mobilize complementary satellite means to continue the search in the identified zone."

The French satellite imagery was released a day after China said its satellite spotted a 22-meter-long and 13-meter-wide floating object in southern Indian Ocean, about 120 km southwest of the objects Australia announced Thursday.

A Malaysian Airlines plane carrying 239 people lost contact with air traffic control about two hours after leaving Malaysia's capital of Kuala Lumpur on a scheduled flight to Beijing on March 8.
