China's embassy to Myanmar on Mar. 31 hosted a preparatory meeting for the students on Mar.31.
The 12 students from Myanmar's best university is the first group of undergraduates at the university to conduct the overseas exchange program. They are set to first visit Shenzhen City, including Shenzhen University, local hi-tech enterprises and several theme parks. They will then go on to visit Yunnan University, the Yunnan University of Nationalities and the Yunnan Nationalities Museum in Yunnan Province to experience the traditions of China's various ethnic groups – of which Yunnan has quite a few.
Daw Yint, a first-year student majoring in politics, is excited about the upcoming visit, "Yangon University just recently set up a politics degree program for undergraduates. I wonder how this major runs in China. I am even more looking forward to discussing with my Chinese counterparts the things we are all interested in."
Daw Myint Thein, a first-year psychology student, is interested in everything in China. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to visit China. The Chinese culture is rich and profound. This trip will enable me to get closer to local students and organizations and better understand China. I want to see Chinese university students and their campus lives."
The Chinese embassy to Myanmar asked teachers from the Myanmar Confucius Classroom to teach the students some everyday Chinese expressions during the preparatory meeting.
The trip features direct interaction between students from China and Myanmar, and will explore the prospects of cooperation in education between both nations. Sky Net, Myanmar's largest private television broadcaster, will feature full coverage of the trip.
