"Musical Legend" recounts a story set in the year 801 A.D. (during the Chinese Tang Dynasty – 618-907). A royal prince of Myanmar's Pyu Dynasty that year led a musical troupe and traveled thousands of kilometers to the then Chinese capital of Chang'an to present their artistic performances.
The TV series is directed by Yu Rongguang, a famous Chinese actor-turned-director, and stars a host of famous actors and actresses. It first aired in China earlier this year, and has since attracted a sound viewer following for its unique script, costumes and intricate suspense. It is scheduled to be broadcast in Myanmar on Apr. 14.
The premiere ceremony is part of the ongoing "Experience China" program hosted in Myanmar from Mar. 26 to Apr. 6. Cui Yuying, vice minister of China's State Council Information Office, and Yang Houlan, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, attended the premiere.
