Yangon University designated 150 square meters for the library and China's SCIO provided over 5,000 books and picture albums across 1,000 categories in Chinese, English and Myanmar languages, as well as some computer equipment.

Yangon University has signed a cooperation memorandum with China's Beijing Foreign Studies University and Yunnan Normal University, according to Dr. Tin Tun, rector of University of Yangon. The establishment of the China Library will signify a milestone in promoting the friendship between China and Myanmar, as well as help students in Myanmar to get to know and understand China and Chinese culture.
