Five persons including four Taliban militants and a police were killed as clashes flared up in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province, some 250 km north of Kabul on Sunday, a local official said. "A group of Taliban militants attacked a police checkpoint in Imam Sahib district at 03:00 a.m. local time today and police returned fire killing four rebels and injuring six others forcing them to flee," district governor Imamudin Qurishi told Xinhua.
He also admitted that a police personnel was killed during the firefight lasted for a while.
Taliban militants fighting the government are yet to make comments.
