Chinese and Russian leaders will coordinate their positions on key issues during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings, said Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov.
Leaders of the two countries will "synchronize time" - referring to coordinating their positions - on important topics related to Russia-China relations, international affairs and the APEC meetings, said Denisov ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin's arrival in Beijing.
Seeing APEC as the best platform to study regional economic development issues, Russia attaches great importance to and actively participates in APEC activities, the ambassador told Xinhua in an interview.
He said "more actively taking part in regional economic cooperation to create favorable conditions for the social and economic development of Russia, particularly east Russia," is the country's strategic goal in the region.
Just like China's strategy of developing its west, Russia places emphasis on developing its eastern region. "It would be a great boost to east Russia's development if China's business community can actively participate in investment projects in Siberia and the far east," said the ambassador.
The interaction between the Silk Road Economic Belt masterminded by China and the Eurasia transport and logistics passageway being built by Russia will also do good for east Russia development, he added.
China is the most important partner for Russia not just in the region, but globally, said Denisov, adding that Russia-China relations have long been important factors in safeguarding world peace.
It has long been a necessity to renew relationships between major countries, and "peaceful resolution to disputes, refraining from using or threatening to use force, no confrontation, and establishing partnership between different multilateral organizations" should be the basic principles for sustaining new-type relations among major countries, he said.
