One Chinese killed in Turkish hot-air balloon crash

A Chinese tourist was killed and many others injured when a hot air balloon hard landed in central Turkey on Wednesday, according to the Chinese embassy in Turkey and private Dogan news agency.

The balloon, which belongs to private Atmosphere Ballooning Company, fell near Guvercinlik Valley in Capadokya region of Nevsehir province in central Turkey at 08:15 a.m. local time (GMT 0615), the report said, adding that a Chinese tourist was killed and many others from China and Malaysia were injured.

The Chinese embassy in the capital Ankara has confirmed the death of a Chinese tourist and the injury of another Chinese national.

The Turkish emergency service and security forces have rushed to the scene as an investigation is underway, according to the report.
