The European Union (EU) is to host talks over Iran's nuclear issue next Monday in Brussels, announced the European Union External Action (EEAS) in a statement on Tuesday.
High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the EU Federica Mogherini would lead the meeting, which would be attended by Iranian Foreign Ministers Mohammad Javad Zarif and his counterparts from Germany, France and Britain, according to the statement.
"This is the first time talks at this level are being held in Brussels," a Commission spokeswoman said.
Iran has been a target of UN sanctions due to its alleged attempts to build nuclear weapons, while Iran insisted that its nuclear programs are for peaceful purposes only.
The EU has helped mediate talks between the five UN permanent Security Council members, namely the United States, France, Britain, China and Russia, plus Germany and Iran.
The six world major countries had set a June deadline to forge a final and comprehensive agreement.
