Sixty ducks raised in Vietnam's Ninh Thuan Province have recently died, of which three have been tested positive to bird flu virus H5N1, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.
Ninh Thuan's Animal Health Bureau said the 3-month-old ducks raised by a farming household in Nhon Son Commune, Ninh Son District suddenly became sick and then died.
The bureau has culled all the duck flock to prevent potential spread of H5N1 virus.
This is the first time Ninh Thuan has detected poultry infected with the bird flu virus since the beginning of this year, the bureau said.
Vietnam reported H5N1 outbreaks among poultry in many localities nationwide last year.
