The event was endorsed by China's State Council Information Office (SCIO) and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China and organized by the China National Publications Import & Export Corporation.

Jiang Jianguo, minister of the SCIO attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Jiang hoped that the exhibition could be utilized as a bridge to give African people access to better understanding Chinese culture.

According to the organizer, books that reflect the overall aspects of China's current political, economic and cultural identities will be shown at the exhibition. Many notable books involved include,"Xi Jinping: The Governance of China", "The Chinese Path and The Chinese Dream" , "The Core Socialist Values" and "The Big Picture Book of Chinese Culture".

The book that reflects Chinese President Xi Jinping's view on governance, "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" is the key recommendation. It was published in September 2014 in Chinese, English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Japanese, and distributed worldwide. Since its publication, the book has reached dozens of countries and regions across the globe.

Until now, its distribution has exceeded 5.2 million, a new record for a book by a Chinese leader.

Representatives of the publishing and cultural sectors also attended the opening ceremony.
