China will be able to bring about agreements between countries participating in the upcoming G20 summit, said Shchepin Konstantin, senior correspondent for several Russian media outlets – including ITAR-TASS and RIA Novost – during his recent interview with China.org.cn.
"Regarding what China can bring to the G20, I think of the governments' mechanism. The principle of consensus is in reality not so effective between countries with completely different interests," Konstantin said a few days ahead of the opening of the G20 summit.
The two-day convention – featuring state leaders discussing various issues, such as global governance, green finance and coordinated macroeconomic policies – will be hosted from September 4 in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province with a reputation as a "paradise on earth."
The Russian correspondent believes that despite international differences, China will be capable of bringing new visions and practices regarding the reaching of agreements during the summit. And the significant event in Hangzhou, home to some of China's most competitive tech and financial companies, will possibly drive up the local housing prices, Konstantin predicted.
