With Sukari in control, the rebels are now trapped in the two remaining neighborhoods of Bustan al-Qaser and Kallaseh in southeastern Aleppo.

Earlier, the army captured several neighborhoods, most importantly the Sheikh Saeed neighborhood, located on a high ground area thus exposing rebel-held areas to attacks by the Syrian army and allied fighters.

The report said the Syrian army now controls 99 percent of the rebel-held areas in eastern Aleppo.

Tens of thousands of people fled eastern Aleppo in the past couple of weeks, with local media reporting the number at 85,000 civilians.

The Syrian army said on Monday that the offensive will continue until Aleppo is completely freed from rebel control.
