Japan welcomes all sorts of assistance, not specially limited to focus on nuclear plants, a spokesman of Japanese delegation said on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Group of Eight Foreign Ministers meeting in Paris.

"We are welcome all sorts of assistance," Hidenobu Sobashima, Deputy Press secretary of Japanese Foreign Minister and spokesman of Japanese delegation to the Paris meeting said to Xinhua.

"International media focused on this nuclear power plan issues very strongly, however there are many people living in shelters, and we also welcome of course activities for rescuing the people, and the missing people, water problems and assistance to the people in shelters are also important," he added, "so it's difficult for us to prioritize the needed things."

The G8 meeting has attached high importance to the Japan disaster, promising coordinated actions not only in short-terms but also medium and long-terms to help Japan overcome the ordeal, according to a press briefing released before start of the meeting.

"We would like to express the sincere gratitude to the international community, China and other countries, who have already sent teams and assistance, etc.," Sobashima said.
