Japan's parliament enacted on Monday a 4.02 trillion yen (about 50 billion U.S. dollars) extra budget for quake relief after the twin disasters in March.
The overall fiscal damages to the nation caused by the devastating quake and tsunami in March are estimated to total 302 billion U.S. dollars.
The budget passed on Monday will be channeled to fund efforts including restoring infrastructure, building temporary housing for victims and clearing away rubble in the quake-hit zone.
According to the Japanese government, more spending packages are expected to follow this year.
