Chinese President Xi Jinping's policy announcements and proposals at the United Nations Summit series were acclaimed by the international community as reflecting China's commitment to maintaining world peace and supporting common development.

On Monday, Xi made a speech at the UN headquarters titled "build a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation, create a community of common destiny for mankind", in which he renewed China's "commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN charter", reaffirming that China, as always, will be a peaceful world constructor and adhere to the path of peaceful development.

Former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin indicated that Xi's speech illustrated China as a peace-loving country and that China attached great importance to the role of the United Nations in safeguarding world peace.

Severino Cabral, director of the Brazilian Institute for China and Asia-Pacific Studies, said Xi's speech showed that China has become an important force in promoting global development and safeguarding peace and stability of the world.

China's initiatives such as the Belt and Road (B&R) and the establishment of the New Development Bank of the emerging-market bloc of BRICS proved that creating "a community of common destiny for mankind" is far from just being a slogan, but embodies China's responsibility of promoting equitable, open and all-round development, he added.

President of South Africa Jacob Zuma said that during the debate China has not only provided assistance to the UN, but also announced special assistance to Africa, for which he expressed his gratitude to China's support.

President of Finland Sauli Niinisto told the media that compared to other speeches, he thought Xi's speech was the most genuine one, which provided China's support in solving crisis, stopping conflicts and achieving ceasefire.

On Sept. 26, Xi delivered a speech at the UN Development Summit on cooperation and mutual benefit with a core idea of equal, opening, all-round and innovative development.

Ahmed Wali, chairman of the Egypt-China Friendship Association, commented that idea is in accordance with China's principle of foreign policy as peaceful co-existence for mutual benefits, which provides a balanced and sustainable path for the world, and a promising one for Africa.

China has been devoting itself to the aids for developing countries, and has helped Africa with many infrastructure projects. Many developing countries have, with China's help, realized suitable and smooth economic growth, he added.

Jose Manriquez, a professor with Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, said China's development fuels the world's economy, and Latin America, including Brazil, Argentina and Chile, has benefited from it.

Xi elaborated on China's stand of gender equality on Sept. 27, when he addressed the opening ceremony of the Women's Summit, vowing to boost women's cause and build a harmonious world.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed his thanks to China's proposal of the summit, which will become a milestone for the global women's cause.
