Tsai Ing-wen elected DPP chairman
Adjust font size:

Tsai Ing-wen was elected Sunday the chairman of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), according to reports by Taiwan-based media.

On March 26, DPP chairman Frank Hsieh announced that he would keep his words to resign, after he was defeated by Ma Ying-jeou of the Kuomintang (KMT) in Taiwan's leadership election on March 22.

Afterwards, the DPP held a top-level meeting and decided that Hsieh should stay on as the acting chairman until the election of a new chairman.
