Sang Lan says the trip is also an opportunity to show her appreciation to the friendly American people who supported her after her injury and during her rehabilitation in New York. Despite her disability, Sang Lan has always been determined not to allow herself to despair.

She has expressed an interest in returning to competitive sports and she hopes to represent China as a ping-pong player at the upcoming Paralympic Games.
