All 218 passengers, including 9 infants, of the flight from London to Bangladesh's northeastern city Sylhet that met with an accident on Monday morning at Dubai airport were flown back safely to Dhaka Tuesday evening.

According to a report of the local newspaper The Independent on Wednesday, the Bangladesh's national airlines Biman airbus plane left London Sunday night for its destination via Dubai and Dhaka and landed at Dubai airport early the following morning.

When it was about to take off from Dhaka Monday morning, some faults were detected in the nose-wheels and the pilot instantly decided to abandon the flight. All passengers and crew members got off safely from the aircraft with a few got minor injuries.

Biman sources said a Dhaka-Jeddah flight that was leaving Bangladesh's Zia International Airport was diverted to Dubai and it carried back the passengers of the ill-fated aircraft.

They said a team led by the chief of the flight safety wing of the airliner has already reached Dubai to assess the extent of damage in the accident.

Meanwhile the government has formed a four-member high-powered committee to investigate the aircraft's mishap at Dubai airport.
