Singers emerging from China's "American Idol"-inspired shows reigned over the Music Radio China Top Chart Awards on Saturday in Beijing.
Li Yuchun, champion of the 2005 "Super Girl" singing competition, took home two awards, including best female singer and best record for the album "Li Yuchun".
Zhou Bichang, the runner-up of the 2005 "Super Girl", was named the most popular female singer as well as the year's all-around artiste.
Zhang Jie, a finalist of "Happy Boy" in 2007, was named the most popular male singer. "Happy Boy" is a male version of "Super Girl".
Li Xiaoyun, Zeng Yike and Yu Kewei, who became celebrities after participating on last year's "Happy Girl", a follow-up show to "Super Girl", were named the most popular, most promising and best newcomers, respectively.
Under the Hong Kong/Taiwan categories, Jolin Tsai was named the best female singer, while Shin was the best male singer. Awards for the most popular male and female singers went to Eason Chan and Elva Hsiao.
