Liam Gallagher, lead singer of the defunct British band Oasis, has announced the formation of his new band called Beady Eye, Ent.qq.com reports.

The new band features Gallagher on vocals with former Oasis member Andy Bell on bass, guitar player Gem Archer and drummer Chris Sharrock.

The new quartet is working on their first album with U2 mastermind Steve Lillywhite. The release date has not yet been decided, although Gallagher said he hoped the band could perform onstage this year.

It also has been reported that Gallagher has started to write a new song since Oasis split up last August following a fallout between Gallagher and his brother, Noel, who was the band's guitarist.

Oasis will release a singles collection entitled "Time Flies" next June, which covered all its songs from the past 15 years.
