Cui Jian, an iconic musician in the Chinese rock scene, is to headline an all-star concert scheduled for August 27 in Beijing.
Known as the godfather of Chinese rock music, Cui has been developing a new career as a filmmaker and devoting himself to environmental protection but has re-arranged his busy schedule in order to appear.
The "Back to Basics" concert will be staged at the Workers' Stadium, the same venue where Cui made his first splash with the all-time favorite song "Nothing to My Name" in 1986.
The line-up also includes some of China's best-known rock musicians and bands, including Tang Dynasty, Black Panther, He Yong and Zhang Chu, who are all credited with contributing to the golden age of Chinese rock music in the 1990s.
Tickets cost from 180-1,280 yuan (US$27-189).
