The National Art Museum of China now has more than 250 works on display in an exhibition celebrating Italian futurism.

Like cubism and expressionism, the art movement originated at the beginning of the 20th century. Though largely an Italian phenomenon, futurism helped steer the Western world toward modernism.

The exhibition, "A+B+C/F = Futurismo," features works by famous artists from the period's founding, such as Kala and Balla, as well as later joiners, including Depero, Prampolini and Alimandi. The works – paintings, posters, sculptures, photography and architecture – track the development of futurism from its beginning to contemporary Italy.

The exhibition is part of an exchange between the National Art Museum of China and the Italian city of Alessandria. The museum will sponsor an exhibition in Alessandria of Chinese shadow puppets later this year.

"A+B+C/F = Futurism" will run until October 28.
