Chen Rong, Zhao's agent, told Qianlong.com that the star is among the performers for China Central Television's September 22 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala.
"She has picked a song from her new album for this special occasion, a very Chinese one," Chen was quoted as saying, but didn't mention the name of the song or the album.
The outdoor gala, expected to attract a national audience on the night of the full moon, will be staged in Wuhu of Anhui Province, Zhao's birthplace.
Guo Jihong, the show's director, told Qianlong.com, "Zhao's performance will be the biggest highlight. She will sing in front of a huge screen showing the neighborhood she used to live in."
Zhao began a singing career in 1999, following her extremely popular role in the TV drama "Princess Pearl" ("Huanzhu Gege"). Being an actress, she has starred in such films as "Red Cliff" ("Chi Bi"), "Mulan" ("Hua Mulan") and "14 Blades" ("Jin Yi Wei").
