In her new film, actress Zhou Xun has a bizarre if not disgusting habit - eating nail-trimmers.

The "Perhaps Love" starlet leads a thriller short entitled "Legend of Four Nights: The Nail Trimmer" ("Siye Qitan Zhi Zhijiadao Renmo"), which is currently shooting on location in Beijing, Tungstar reports.

In the film, Zhou's character confesses to her boyfriend, played by Lawrence Chou, that she is a "nail-trimmer demon" who eats nail-clippers for nourishment.

This film is Zhou's first after she left her former agent, leading Chinese entertainment company Huayi Brothers, under which she achieved major success and became one of the most sought-after Chinese actresses.

Zhou has said she is still sorting things out and is likely to work independently in the future.

"Nail Trimmer" is adapted from filmmaker-writer Pang Ho-Cheung's best-selling novel "Po Shi'er" ("Trivial Matters"). Pang, who is the film's executive producer, intends to complete a series of four made-for-the-Internet short films, each with a highlight on suspense, fantasy, science fiction or craziness. "Nail Trimmer" focuses on suspense.

Derek Tsang and Jimmy Wan are co-directing the film. The duo worked with Pang in writing the screenplay for the latter's 2006 film "Isabella".
