A Japanese film festival will be launched in Myanmar's three main cities of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay beginning at this weekend under a culture exchange program of the two countries, diplomatic sources said on Tuesday.
The Japanese film festival will be held in Nay Pyi Taw from March 12 to 13, in Yangon from March 17 to 20 and in Mandalay from March 26 to 27.
Four Japanese films, namely "Kamome Diner", "The girl who leapt through time", "The bandage club" and "The twilight Samurai", will be screened on the occasion, the sources said.
Japanese film festival has been held annually in Myanmar since 2000, sponsored by the Japanese embassy in collaboration with the Japan Foundation.
As its effort to promote Myanmar film industry, the Myanmar Motion Picture Enterprises conducted courses on film production in cooperation with the Czech Film University last year.
During the courses, technical education on the film production were also provided to help upgrade Myanmar films.
