When Avril appears, screams filled the Shanghai Grand Stage. Nearly one hour of waiting hasn't dented the enthusiasm of the crowd one bit. The Canadian pop punk princess went on to do what she does best, wowing them with her spirited melodies.
Avril broke onto the music scene with her debut album Let Go in 2002 and went on to release 4 albums in 10 years.
In the 75 minutes show, Avril ran through some of the biggest hits in her first three album including Complicated, I'm With You, My Happy Ending.
As well as old favorites, the Shanghai concert was dedicated to her latest album, Goodbye Lullaby, released last month. In this new album, Avril's style takes a more delicate and soulful turn.
From a young outrageous punk spirit, to a grown woman with a mature aura, Avril Lavigne has changed a lot in the last decade. But several things remain the same -- the glamour of her music -- and the adulation of her fans.
Shanghai concert is just the first stop on her Black Star Tour. For her next date in China, Avril heads for Hong Kong on May 7th.
