A special screening event of Director Tsui Hark's wuxia film "Flying Swords of the Dragon Gate" was held yesterday (December 25) in Beijing, attended by director Tsui Hark, actor Chen Kun, and producer and president of Bona Film Group Yu Dong, mtime.com reports.

Yu Dong announced that the movie has grossed over 300 million RMB (US$ 47.4 million) at the box office. The production team gathered for a toast to celebrate the exciting news.

Ranking second place of the mainland's box office charts, the movie is expected to make 500 million RMB after the New Year's holiday.

Audiences spoke highly of the movie's 3D effects, some members saying it was even much better than "Transformers." In order to create such dynamic 3D effects, Tsui had to put together a special 3D production team for the movie.

"The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate" will continue going head to head with Zhang Yimou's Oscar-hopeful "The Flowers of War."
