Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist and one of the founding members of American rock band "The Doors", died on Monday at the age of 74.

The news was released by Tom Vitorino, the manager of the rock group.

Manzarek died of complications related to bile duct cancer at a clinic in Germany, Vitorino said.

Manzarek founded "The Doors" after meeting a film student Jim Morrison in 1965 in Los Angeles. The band became one of the most successful rock and roll music groups in the 1960s, and sold some 100 million records.

With the most popular works like "Hello, I Love You", "Riders on the Storm" and "Light My Fire", the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
