"X-Men: Days of Future Past" premiered Tuesday in Beijing with cast members Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage and Fan Bingbing walking on the blue carpet, hoping that the Chinese elements in the film will boost its China box office performance.

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing plays Blink in the film, a mutant who can teleport herself and others people. She has multiple fight scenes, in a location with clear Chinese elements.

Fan said at the press conference that in the story it is a Chinese temple, or rather a monastery. At there, the mutant superheroes have to fight against their villains, though some of the temple columns are very European.

"It captures some of the oriental magic and mystery of China from a foreign perspective, and as the Chinese film industry grows rapidly, I think the Chinese elements indicate that the United States and Chinese film industries will both succeed and develop together to another level as they collaborate more closely," Fan said.

She believes "X-Men" is a brilliant film and it will certainly do very well at the box office in China.

Hugh Jackman and Peter Dinklage were cheered on by screaming fans, as they busily signed autographs and walked onto the blue carpet of the premiere. Though Jackman has played Wolverine seven times in the last 14 years, the Australian actor said he has not got fed up of it and now loves the role even more. "I just hope I don't get kicked out some day," he joked.

Hollywood superhero films now have a huge fan base and great box office potential in the China market. The recent film "Amazing Spider-Man 2" took US$55.6 million in the first eight days of its release while "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," has raked in US$115 million in China.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is set to hit screens in China on May 23, the same day as it is released in many other countries around the world. After its advance screening, the film has received raving reviews from viewers.

The film adapts one of the most popular storylines from "X-Men" history. The story takes place in two eras: in a dystopian future in which mutants are hunted by deadly robot Sentinels and also in the 1970s, shortly after the events of Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class."

It unites the casts of both the original "X-Men" trilogy -- including Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as professor Charles Xavier and Ian McKellen as his friend-turned-foe Erik Lehnsherr, a.k.a. Magneto -- and Vaughn's 2011 prequel, which featured James McAvoy as a younger Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Academy-winning young actress Jennifer Lawrence as Raven or "Mystique." Also featured are Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde, Halle Berry as Storm, Omar Sy as Bishop and Evan Peters as Quicksilver.
