American pop singer Taylor Swift has released her new album, "1989".

Swift's departure from semi-country songstress to full-fledged pop artist is evident with her new hit singles like "Shake it Off" and "Welcome to New York."

But the 24-year-old singer's new pop sound has been well-received, with "1989" currently at the top of the iTunes album list.

Likewise, seven out of the top-10 songs being downloaded on iTunes are from Swift's new album.

Swift performed fives songs from the new album live for iHeartRadio and Yahoo! Screen to celebrate the release. The performance can be watched online.

The American Broadcasting Company announced Monday that Swift will headline "New Year's Rockin' Eve," the annual countdown show, on December 31st.
