The song, "Qing Ping Diao" (A Song of Pure Happiness), was reportedly the last tune from the iconic Chinese singer Teng, who actually didn't have time to finish it before her sudden death in 1995. Twenty years later, pop diva Faye Wong has finished the song as a duet.
Wong said Teng was always her musical inspiration and she always loved and respected Teng, though the two never met and twenty years ago Wong had just started her phenomenal career. As Teng didn't make many public appearances at that time, Wong was going to do a tribute album to Teng, however, just as Wong had finished recording half of the album, she heard the news of Teng's death on the afternoon of May 8, 1995.
"Qing Ping Diao," was first released in 2013 at a tribute concert held by the Teresa Teng Foundation in Beijing. It was composed by songwriter Cao Junhong as an adaptation of poems by famous Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai of the same title. But Teng only recorded a demo of it.
