Pulling in some 114 million yuan or roughly 18 million US dollars on Monday, the low-budget comedy has set the records for top attendance and single-day box office, by surpassing Xu Zheng's 'Lost in Hong Kong'.

'Goodbye Mr. Loser' is adapted from a theater play with the same name, featuring a loser in his middle age, who magically traveled back to his school days and developed romance with his first love again.

This solid comedy is produced by Mahua FunAge, a privately owned theater play company, which rose to fame in 2003.

Popular Comedian Shen Teng and Ma Li, who gained fame through the theater play productions of Mahua FunAge, stared in the leading role in 'Goodbye Mr. Loser'.

Meanwhile, comedy 'Lost in Hong Kong' still rules the Chinese box office, marked as the top-grossing 2D domestic film of all time on the Chinese mainland.
