Devon Glover, also known as 'Sonnet Man', said he would perform at the playwright's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death on Saturday.
As an artist and teacher, he said rapping brings the words and meaning of classic titles to life for 21st century students.
"I take Shakespeare's words verbatim, put it behind a contemporary hip hop beat, and then I translate it, modernising it in my own words in rap. It's kind of like hip-hop Cliffs Notes."
Glover has performed in numerous schools and festivals across the globe.
Originally a maths teacher, Glover said he was attracted by Shakespeare's style of writing in meters, which he says is the foundation for rap music.
