Chinese Opera Culture Week to start on Sept. 29

The 2017 Chinese opera culture week will take place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 6 at the Beijing Garden Expo Park.

The culture week will consist of six main events, including a float parade, a global amateur competition, opera performances, culture heritage exhibitions, the Chinese opera festival, and an art carnival of Central and Eastern European countries.

In addition, 10 parks in the Garden Expo Park, in cooperation with professional opera troupes, will present nearly 20 different genres of operas from difference parts of China. In the Beijing opera park, Jiangsu opera park and Fujian opera park, the opera will be performed with the backdrop of the gardens’ sceneries at night.

The weeklong celebration is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and the Beijing municipal government, and it is jointly organized by the art division of the Ministry of Culture, the Beijing Municipal Publicity Department, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and the Fengtai District Government.
