The China International Translation Contest 2013 has drawn vast public attention since it began this September.

The contest, which involves translating Chinese short stories into other languages, provides participants with a great platform to show their skills and compete for China's first national-level translation awards.

The contest organizer has received many entries from a wide range of countries and regions, including Britain, Brazil, Algeria, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.

Several participants have said that the contest has been memorable and that its popularity shows that Chinese language and culture has spread throughout the world.

The deadline for competition entries is Feb. 28, 2014. The winners will be announced at the end of the April. There will be certificates and cash prizes for first, second and third places. Winners will also have the honor of having their works published by major publishing houses, including China International Publishing Group, Penguin Publishing House and Hachette Livre.
